Located Northeast of Nepal and from Kathmandu around high Khumbu region, the park enclosed with world's highest mountains Mt. Everest with other well-known peaks Lhotse, Nuptse, Cho Oyo, Pumori, Amadablam, Thermasharkhu, Kwangde, Khangtiaga, and Gyachung Kang. One of the world's highest parks added to the list of World Heritage Sites in 1979.
Flora and Fauna:
Beautiful bloom of rhododendrons occurs during spring (April and May) although another flora is most colorful during the monsoon season (June to August) the other species birch-oaks-magnolia-blue pines and silver firs with juniper trees and bushes.
Wild Life sometimes spotted heard of Himalayan Thar, Ghoral (mountain antelope), Serow and Musk Deer. The Snow Leopard and Himalayan black bear are present but rarely sighted.
Other mammals rarely seen are the weasel, marten, Himalayan mouse hare (pika), and jackal with languor monkey.
Khumbu and the park populated by about 3,000 famous Sherpa people whose lives are interwoven with the teaching of Buddhism. The main settlements are Namche Bazaar, Khumjung, Khunde, Thame, Thyangboche, Pangboche, and Phortse. The economy of the Khumbu Sherpa community has traditionally been heavily based on trade and livestock herding.
But with the coming of international mountaineering expeditions since 1950 and the influx of foreign trekkers, the Sherpa economy today is becoming increasingly dependent on tourism.
Climate and Season:
Everest region can be visited whole year as Nepal seasons begins with Spring ( Feb-April) Summer (May to September) Autumn / Fall (Oct to November) and Winter (December to January).
March to May are the busy season for trekking and climbing with a cool morning of 0 degree Celsius to a pleasant day of 18-20 degree with cooler and cold nights as the temperature drops down to freezing point, with the additional cold chill factor.
